As a man the amount of cologne/man perfume you wear can be very important to how successful your scent is. Below are a number of hints in order to get the optimum scentage!
1. Remember too much can be overpowering and hideous so make sure you hold the bottle about 8 inches away from yourself and spray twice.
2. It is ok to aim at your chest but DO NOT aim for your abs
3. Spraying your wrists is a BIG no no – this is for women only!!!
4. If you like to spray your cologne on your clothes keep it to the general collar area.
5. I love it when I borrow a scarf from a man and you can smell their perfume on it. So in the winter if you are romancing a lady spray a little bit of your scent on scarf and then very chivalriously lend your date your scarf on a nippy night!

How a man smells has to be (in my opinion) one of the most important things when picking a prospective partner! I don’t think scientists have it right when say that the scent of cologne can’t turn a woman on – admittedly I have no evidence to contradict but surely there are scents that definitely turn you OFF!
Below are a few of the most popular scents for men and a few of my favourites.
Calvin Klein’s Obsession – I could guarantee that majority of women asked like this one
Calvin Klein’s Eternity – I own the female version, it smells great in the bottle but doesn’t suit everyone and the same applies for the male version.
Cool Water – bit obscure but I had a friend who bought a bottle just to smell it!
Ralph Lauren – I like majority of Ralph Lauren scents but the original Polo is probably the best.

There is some debate about whether it is safe to wear perfume during pregnancy but there may be a solution.
According to research the phthalates in perfume (the chemicals used to make perfume last longer) can cause damage to unborn children in the womb.
Obviously there are contradicting reports but if you don’t want to spray up to 400 chemicals on your pregnant self then there are a few perfumes you can purchase which are either low in toxicity or phthalate free.
Most are organic and phthalate free and are reasonably priced at around £35.
Check out the Jo Wood Organics website for a great range of organic perfumes.

Lady GaGa has been reported to be releasing her own perfume with the same company that J-Lo and SJP release theirs. Now what makes me intrigued about this one is Lady GaGa’s unique style. How will this convert into a perfume? Are we about the see a very unique scent hit the shelves and if so what will a unique scent smell like?? Wonder how she will be approaching this one?
I can guarantee that the shape of the bottle will be interesting enough – maybe a bit like the silhouette Armani figures , or maybe something completely outrageous – probably be more her style.
I hope she puts something in the perfume like glitter or stars in it to spruce up the perfume!
Would you wear Eau de GaGa?? Let me know

What should you do when your favourite perfume runs out? Should you stick to what you know and purchase a new bottle of the tried and tested (and much adored) favourite? Or should you be adventurous and try something new. I’m always a little anxious when a friend buys me perfume as a present because I’m never too sure on their tastes or if they know my tastes well enough but one of my now favourite perfumes was originally a present. The reason I ask is because my work perfume is running out and can’t decide if I should try something new or stick to what I know. I am completely in love with my Chanel Number 5 and don’t thing I could live without it! Please if you have any suggestions for a new scent let me know.

It seems that barely a week goes by without another celebrity launching their own fragrance. From actors to pop stars to so-called glamour girls, the celebrity fragrance market is growing by the day.

So, which celebrity fragrances are worth a sniff?

Britney Spears has quite a collection of fragrances now, and although they are pleasant they are quite sickly sweet and probably more suited to teens.

Paris Hilton’s fragrances are aimed at a similar market, although they don’t seem to have any staying power.

CONSUMER New Kylie Minogue Perfume 1

At the other end of the scale, Kylie Minogue’s Sexy Darling is a gorgeous scent that’s perfect for a night on the town, and lasts right through to the morning after.

So, if you want my advice, stay away from the scents of tacky tarts and reach for true pop royalty instead.

Peter Andre has been out and about touting his fragrance in the UKs department stores.

Pete obviously has a lot more time on his hands now that he is well rid of the wrinkly old trollop that’s otherwise known as Katie Price (yuck!!)

‘Unconditional’ is a unisex scent that was launched last year, although Pete has been busy promoting it in time for Valentines Day- along with his new album of love songs.

No doubt Pete is trying to keep himself occupied and well away from the tabloids, which are full to the brim with tacky tales of his ex and her new husband.

If, like many people you’re likely to be stuck at home with a microwave meal for one and the dog this Valentines Day, why not cheer yourself up and buy yourself a new fragrance.

Like the ladies in Destinys Child sand, it’s all about independent women, so don’t sit around moping waiting for some tall, dark and handsome hunk to whisk you off your feet and shower you with Chanel No 5, why not treat yourself?!

There’s nothing sad about buying yourself a new fragrance this Valentines Day, and it’s sure to perk you up more than sitting around waiting for a bunch of 100 red roses ever will!!!alg_vd

It is strange how perfumes only really use smells such as spice, fruit and flowered smells to create the scents we love to wear day in and day out, however when you ask people what their favourite smells are you will get answers like ‘the smell of freshly cut grass’, ‘he smell of bread baking’, ‘seaside smell of fresh salty air’ and ‘freshly washed clothes’. It’s really odd that because of this there are not those specific smells out there in perfume or aftershave! However I guess you can get air fresheners and room sprays that contain those smells so somehow the fragrance companies have worked out that as much as we enjoy those smells, no-one would like to smell like them!

A friend at work told me today that the aftershave he was wearing cost £200 for the bottle. I almost fell off my seat. He looked smug about it for a while and then admitted that his version of the Tom Ford aftershave was in fact the high street version which was £50 for the bottle. Still a hefty amount admittedly, and to be honest it does smell really good. Understated but powerful and masculine. There are a few perfumes and aftershaves that do high quality ‘high street versions’ of their ‘top quality perfumes’ which is really good because you get the same designer fragrance for a lower price but you still have a designer bottle sat on your shelf at home. The Tom Ford man perfume he was wearing you can only get at Selfridges and the £200 version apparently is very rare to find in the UK.
